We are thrilled to share some exciting news from this year’s Southport Flower Show! As many of you know, this was our very first time entering the honey competition, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Our very first batch of honey earned us two second-place awards and one third-place award! It’s a wonderful feeling to see our hard work recognized, especially in the show’s 100th anniversary year.
Two years ago, we began our beekeeping journey fueled by curiosity, passion, and a dedication to supporting the environment. From the start, we aimed to enter the honey competition, and we’re thrilled to have reached that goal this year. It has been a delightful surprise to place in the top 3 in every category we entered, especially during this special year – the 100th anniversary of the competition, which drew more participants than ever. This experience has taught us so much, from caring for our first hive to finally harvesting that first jar of honey.
To see our honey receive such positive feedback from the judges has been incredibly rewarding. These awards mean so much to us, not because of the recognition, but because they mark a milestone in our journey that has been filled with many learning experiences.
As we reflect on our success, we are filled with gratitude for all the support we have recived from the Southport and District Beekeeping Association. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long and fruitful journey. We’re already thinking about new goals for next year’s show!
